Lleida
Lleida has been historically the inner capital of Catalonia. Its location made it the west entrance and exit of the country. This strategic location made the city live large periods of splendor for centuries that is reflected in its monumental past. One can also appreciate the remains caused by warfare in the city that resulted in extensive damage and significant changes.
The tour starts in the Seu Vella, the old cathedral which is the main architectural monument of the city. It tower stands on a hill that bears his name, from which you can see the best view of the city, the Segre river and much of the fields of Lleida. The Monumental site is completed by the Castle of the king and the military fortification that surrounds the whole complex.
If you descend towards the center, the first stop is at the church of San Llorenç, medieval temple of great esteem by the people of Lleida. Arrive at Commercial axis, which follows the route of the Camino de Santiago, which is one of the main roads of the city.
